"Through the courtesy of Governor John E. Miles, every
newspaper editor in the state has been supplied with a set of
special automobile license plates, carrying the inscription,
"New Mexico Press, 1939." In sending these to members of the
press, Governor Miles announced that they are being furnished
as a mark of appreciation..."

TOURIST
Ch. 150 P 3/17/1919, E 1/1/1920. Began 1920. Earliest seen
1921. Issued to tourists staying longer than 30 days for $3 fee,
valid for remainder of calendar year. 1921 diamond-shaped
unpainted tab with "TOURIST" to be attached to home-state plate.
All 1921 tags are probably overstamped since only 25 tags were
sold in 1920. Discontinued by Ch. 96 P 3/10/1923, E 7/1/1923.
